Useful information for timeshare sellers
After a timeshare purchase there may come a time when you need or want to sell your timeshare. At Gotimeshare.org we have the latest news and consumer advice to help with the process of selling timeshare. You may be worried about selling timeshares or unsure about how to sell a timeshare but our guides and information can help.
You may have a timeshare in the US, Europe, the Caribbean or elsewhere around the world and have decided it is time to sell. If you are considering selling your timeshare, you first port of call should be your resort developer, to establish whether they offer a resale service themselves or can recommend a company that specializes in timeshare resales.
If your resort developer does not have a service to help sell your timeshare, you have a number of options available, including selling your timeshare privately or using a resale company to sell it on your behalf. Only use resale agents that are RDO members as they all sign up to a code of conduct that protects you throughout the timeshare selling process. They are not allowed to take an upfront registration fee, cannot make unsolicited calls and must give buyers a cooling off period, ie time in which they may change their minds without financial penalty.
The resale company will take you through the timeshare selling process and will give you an idea of the price you might expect to obtain for your timeshare, the time it may take to sell and the costs involved.
Protection When Selling Timeshare
From February 2011, a new Timeshare Law was introduced around Europe that also protected clients selling time share. This is of great benefit if you are selling a timeshare as it is now illegal to take any form of upfront payment and a 14 day cooling off period must be provided.
Never respond to cold calls from companies offering to help you dispose of your timeshare as these are likely to be bogus, looking to mislead and defraud you. As well as useful information about selling timeshare we also have tips and guides about buying timeshare.
