At least sixteen of the top hotel groups in the world, including major brands with timeshare divisions such as Hilton, Marriott, Melia, Starwood and Accor are working together to develop an important new industry security framework for handling sensitive credit card data.
The new framework is being overseen by the working group Hotel Technology Next Generation (HTNG) with the aim of dramatically improving the way reservations within the hospitality industry are processed and provide even stronger protection against hacking and data theft.
The following big brand hotel groups have all confirmed they will be participating:
– Delaware North Companies
– Fairmont Raffles Hotels International
– Hilton Worldwide
– Hyatt Hotels Corporation
– InterContinental Hotels Group
– Jumeirah Group
– Kempinski Hotels
– The Marcus Corporation
– Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group
– Marriott International
– Maybourne Hotel Group
– Melia Hotels International
– Omni Hotels
– Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide
– Taj Group of Hotels
The Secure Payments Framework effort was created at the request of HTNG’s board of directors, which consists of senior-level IT executives from leading hotel groups in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East and top IT security executives.
