Top US shared ownership specialist Starwood Vacation Ownership has revealed that it is to undertake a $35 million revamp at its popular Westin St John Resort & Villas in the Caribbean.
The project will include an extension and the launch of the new Coral Vista Villas, with enhancements to the resort’s guestrooms, dining facilities, meeting space and pool area.
Steve Williams, chief operating officer for Starwood Vacation Ownership, said: “The Westin St John Resort & Villas is one of the most successful shared ownership resorts in the Caribbean.
“As the resort and the on-site vacation ownership continue to play a pivotal role in St John’s expansive tourism market, we are thrilled to enhance our presence and commitment to the island.”
As part of the revamp, 79 rooms will be converted into 54 vacation ownership villas, while 30 two-bedroom villas, six two-bedroom lofts and 18 studio villas will also be added.
Work will begin on December 1st, with occupancy expected to begin in January 2015 and once the project is completed, the resort will have a total of 200 villas.
