New Travel Destinations will be “Slimma” in 2012

“Slimma” – Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico and Argentina – are the travel destinations to watch in 2012, according to news from the World Travel Market in London this week. The industry’s most important conference reveals these are the new countries to watch, following last year’s prediction that the “Brics” group – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, also look poised for major growth in the next five years.

Mexico is a major timeshare destination, particularly for American owners, as it’s relatively “close to home” with many brand name resort hotels along the very popular Mexican Riviera. In Argentina leading Portuguese-based hotelier and vacation ownership specialists Pestana have a presence with two hotels, one in Buenos Aires and one by Lake Gutierrez in Bariloche.

The luxury shared ownership market in Indonesia is dominated by Australian-based the Royal Group, founded by visionary entrepreneur John Spence. He created Karma Resorts in 2002 to provide the ultimate deluxe shared ownership experience in Indonesia, Greece and Thailand. Karma’s world famous resorts in the region include the Jimbaran, located at one of the most exclusive addresses on the island Just steps from a white sandy beach and the tranquil waters of Jimbaran Bay, the Karma Jimbaran offers exceptional entertainment, including weekly Balinese “Megibung” feasts with traditional Balinese dancers and Gamalan bands, as well as regular jazz and blues evenings.

Karma Kandara on the southernmost tip of the island, offers exhilarating views and redefines the concept “luxury escape”.

Spence’s third Balinese property and the fifth estate in the Group’s portfolio is Karma Agung, named after Bali’s most sacred landmark, Mount Agung. It’s Bali’s tallest mountain, legendary as home to the gods and the Agung resort enjoys total privacy, set away from the mainstream tourism of the island in the eastern area of Karangasem.
