Britain's most beautiful holiday-at-home hotspots

With the balmy nights and the summer heatwave putting us all into increasingly good moods, there is no place we would rather be than sunny Britain right now.

Make the most of the sunny weather, pack those bags and escape to our pick of the most beautiful destinations our country has to offer.

1) Seven Sisters, Sussex

Boasting stunning, snowy white chalk cliffs, Seven Sisters makes for a spectacular staycation.  Based just a few miles outside of Brighton, there will be plenty of opportunity to hit the chic seaside resort’s boutique shops, sandy beaches and popular bars too.

2) The Pembrokeshire Coast

For rugged coastline, spectacular views and miles of unspoiled coastline, the Pembrokeshire coast is the perfect place to get away from it all. We love heading to St David’s to enjoy some truly breathtaking views.

3) The Lake District

It may be one of the wettest and rainiest places in England, but the Lake District is also one of the most stunningly beautiful places in the world. Explore the lakes on a clear day and have your breath taken away. Adventurers will love scaling the highest mountains, and then watching the sunset amidst the countryside and jagged hills.

4) Cambridge

Rich in history, culture and famous for its winding rivers, Cambridge is the perfect place to enjoy a lazy picnic on a hot summer’s day. Find yourself wandering through the meandering streets, or hire a bike and take a step back in time or simply while away the afternoon people-watching from one of the pavement cafes.

5) Skye

Not only is Skye’s most dramatic of Scotland’s beautiful islands, but it also happens to be the most accessible. Just a hop, skip and a road bridge away from the mainland, you can reach Skye without waiting for weekly ferries or planes. Head here to escape the hustle and bustle of modern life and enjoy its spectacular almost other-worldly views.
