Winter Sun TImeshare Spotlight: Limassol, Cyprus

With its stunning beaches, amazing seafood and sightseeing, could the Cypriot town of Limassol be one of the most underrated cities in the Eastern Mediterranean?

Although it’s one of the Greek island’s busiest areas, it rarely snags the top spot on the bucket list, with tourists opting for resorts such as Paphos, Aiya Napa or the Akamas Peninsula instead.

Arguably, Limassol remains one of the Med’s best kept secrets. We’ve put together a 48 hour itinerary to ensure that you make the most of your time in this breath-taking town.

Day 1

As Cyprus’ largest coastal resort, visiting the beaches around Limassol is a must! Head to the East side of Episkopi Bay to make the most of Limassol’s most beautiful beach spots, before sunbathing on Button Beach or Kourion Beach.

For lunch, make the most of the 100% fresh seafood by heading to the tourist strip by Dasoudi Beach and the sparkling, breezy Marina. Grab a bite at the Pyxida Fish Tavern, set on the promenade, or try Sailor’s Rest Lounge Bar & Restaurant for the best lobster.

Once the sun has set on your day, relax and unwind with a slow stroll to the Boulevard Georgíou tou Prótou, where you will find Limassol’s best bars.

Day 2

This destination has plenty to offer culture vultures. Start your day visiting the archaeological wonders of Ancient Kourion, before heading next door to the mosaics of House of Eustolios.

After the archaeological tour, why not take a wander through the streets of Limassol Old Town and grab a bite to eat, before stopping off at Limassol Castle in the main square of the Old Town in the late afternoon. If you still have some time before dinner, try the Limassol Medieval Museum to learn more about the country’s rich history, or the Lanitis Art Foundation to soak in some of the city’s modern art installations.

When it comes to whetting your appetite for dinner, if you’re in Cyprus for a special celebration, treat yourselves and book a table at the award-winning Restaurant Vivaldi (located within the Four Seasons Resort) – or try TripAdvisor favourite Meze Taverna for a spread of traditional Cypriot dishes.

Timeshare favourite Cyprus is also one of your best bets for winter sunshine, so if the gap between now and next spring feels too wide, now’s the time to plan a battery-recharging sunshine break for after Christmas!
