Best Beaches in the World

A number of beaches have been recommended by travel experts for some winter sun, with Queensland in Australia named as one of the top ones for timeshare users to enjoy.

Five travel experts spoke to the Observer about what their favourite beaches for winter sun were, with Christopher Somerville, author of Coast, naming the Australian destination as his own choice.

He recommended heading to Holloways Beach a little north of Cairns on a Friday afternoon with a cool box containing ice-cold bottles of Cooper's Green Label.

Mr Somerville told the news provider that friendly locals will be found there, preparing barbecues and enjoying some reef fishing as well as views of the jade-green Coral Sea.

Other destinations professionals recommended to the Observer were Fuerteventura, Pulau Perhentian Kecil off the east coast of Malaysia, Koh Samet in Thailand and Manhattan beach in California.

Meanwhile, Robin Gauldie recently wrote for the Daily Mirror that Marbella has some top beaches, such as Playa de Casablanca.
