Weakening Krona Provides Iceland Travel Opportunities
The weakening krona has had at least one positive impact on the country, giving it worldwide attention from travellers, it has been said.
Sigga Groa Thorarinsdottir, marketing manager for UK and Ireland at the Icelandic Tourist Board, said that tourists are spending nearly double the amount in Icelandic krona than they have done in previous years.
They know they are getting better value for money now, Ms Thorarinsdottir commented.
For timeshare owners heading over to Reykjavik, there are other ways to save money as many of the attractions in the city are free, she noted.
Visit Reykjavik's Welcome Card, meanwhile, offers timeshare owners free entrance to museums, free bus travel within the city and access to local geothermal swimming pools, she explained.
These cards also offer travellers discounts on gift shops, boutiques and restaurants, while alcoholic beverages are affordable in Iceland as well, Ms Thorarinsdottir added.
On December 10th, £1 was worth 202.757 Icelandic krona.
