European tourists are set to flock to London during the Olympics, according to World Travel Market.

London is set to host one of the biggest sports events the world has ever known, which will attract more tourists into the city, explains the organiser of World Travel Market 2009.

Reports by Visit London and World Travel Market state that the 2012 Olympics will attract more tourists, including timeshare owners, which will add to the buzz of the city.

Visit London has recently pledged to invest more than £11 billion into projects which will be benefit the city and Fiona Jeffery, chairman of World Travel Market 2009 added that around £186 million will be invested into expanding ExCel for the games.

These comments come after research by Lonely Planet revealed that London is one of the top ten value destinations in the world for European travellers.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics revealed that visits to the UK by overseas residents rose by three per cent during June to August compared with the previous three months.
