Ocean and cruise holidays are becoming increasingly popular with vacationers, according to timeshare resort manager Club La Costa.

This year the group has reached £1 million in cruise booking sales four months faster than it did in 2008 and predicts that next year will be the biggest on record for the industry.

Julie Fenlon, travel manager at the organisation, said that the most popular destinations at the moment are the Mediterranean, Nile and Caribbean regions, although strong interest has also been shown in South Africa and the Indian Ocean this year.

She added that the popularity of cruising is not surprising as it offers something for people of all ages, a wide choice of destinations and the opportunity to try different types of holidays.

In August Club La Costa opened its Apollonium Spa and Beach resort, its first centre in Turkey, which features heated indoor and outdoor pools, fitness facilities, minigolf, tennis, water sports, ground chess and an outdoor cinema.
