Sim Cards: A Cheaper International Mobile Option

Timeshare owners using their mobiles abroad have been advised to invest in an international SIM card to help keep mobile bills down.

Tom Newton, a spokesperson for mobile phone comparison site Recombu.com, said: "As well as getting travel insurance, sun cream and tea bags sorted and packed before you head off, a good idea would be to invest in an international SIM card."

He noted that timeshare owners who have such a SIM card will be able to make low cost calls back home and if someone calls them it will not cost a significant amount for to receive it.

This will mean that holidaymakers will not have to keep their phone switched off the entire time they are away, he commented, adding that the SIM card can be saved for the next trip away.

Research from uswitch.com has recently indicated that 66 per cent of mobile phone users risk high overseas charges just by turning their phone on.
