RDO Turns Up the Heat on Resale and Holiday Club Fraudsters
As part on an ongoing campaign to help stamp out fraudulent practices targeted at timeshare owners, RDO (Resort Development Organisation), the trade body for timeshare and fractional ownership, is calling for consumers to come forward with their complaints.
Of particular interest are complaints from people who have been invited to a presentation either to discuss ways in which to dispose of their timeshare or to join a class action scheme, but are then persuaded to sign up to membership of a holiday club of which they had no former knowledge. A deposit is frequently taken and if no cooling off period is provided, which is frequently the case, consumers may lose significant sums of money. Read more

Bogus Holiday Clubs / Discount Holiday Membership Warning
An ex-police inspector is leading a project organised by RDO (Resort Development Organisation) to warn consumers about the dangers of bogus discount travel membership clubs - more commonly known as holiday clubs - and fraudulent resale companies.
The project aims to draw attention to unscrupulous companies that deliberately deceive consumers and pressurise them into signing up to membership of a holiday club or a resale scheme. Read more

Eurostar Launches Little Break, Big Difference
Eurostar has launched its Little Break, Big Difference campaign which means timeshare owners can get hold of £59 return ticket to Paris, Brussels as well as any Belgian station.
The campaign, which builds on Eurostar's Travel Nation report that showed consumers value short breaks to relax and recuperate, started this month (May 18th) and is due to run until August. Read more

Name Change for Timeshare Organisation
OTE (Organisation for Timeshare in Europe) announced today that it has changed its name to Resort Development Organisation (RDO). The new name is reflective of developments in the vacation ownership industry, which has changed dramatically since the 1960s when timeshare was first sold, giving the consumer a fixed week at one resort. Since then new forms of vacation ownership have emerged giving the consumer more flexibility and choice, such as ‘floating weeks’*, the points system* and, more recently, fractional ownership, private residence clubs, destination clubs and condo hotels.
