Stansted Airport Bank Holiday Strike Cancelled

stansted airport picTimeshare owners planning to jet off abroad this weekend will be relieved to hear the impending UK Bank Holiday strike at Stansted has been called off now that baggage scanning staff in a dispute over pay have just reached a new agreement with their employers.

The two parties have agreed terms and the potentially disruptive strike will not go ahead.

In June, the workers’ employer Mitie introduced pay cuts from the summer onwards which included both a cut in premium hourly rates for night shifts and overtime by 3.5% and increased pay rates by 2%; the Stansted baggage handling staff were not happy with the proposals and 92% voted to go on strike.

Now the staff employed by Mitie at Stansted Airport have agreed to accept an improved offer so the strike action has been cancelled, clearing the way for a busy Bank Holiday weekend for holidaymakers and many timeshare owners who’ll be jetting out for a blast of late summer overseas sunshine before autumn sets in and school starts again.
