It’s a quite staggering fact that more than six million people across the world are timeshare owners, enjoying access to high quality accommodation – and a home away from home – without the expense and maintenance of a second home.
More than half the people who own timeshare are RCI members, giving them the opportunity to exchange their Weeks or Points to visit other properties all over the world. Indeed for many buyers, the opportunity to explore a world of holiday experiences and fantastic new destinations using the RCI exchange network is a major factor in their decision to purchase timeshare in the first place.

The company pioneered timeshare exchange, and celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2009. It now has 3.8 million members, who have access to the company’s portfolio of more than 4,000 affiliated timeshare resorts worldwide, and at specified times, to over 80,000 holiday properties in more than 100 countries. RCI has nearly twice as many affiliated timeshare resorts as its nearest exchange holiday competitor, and the largest points-based exchange programme in the world.

Leading the way
A pioneer in weeks exchange, RCI launched the world’s first global points-based exchange system – the RCI Points exchange programme – in 2000.
The company is one of the industry’s greatest innovators and recently launched RCI TV, a dedicated TV channel accessible through its member website – www.rci.com - and on several digital platforms. The channel showcases its affiliated resorts using professional video footage to capture the emotional experience of taking a holiday there. RCI TV recently passed the one million viewing figure and it also has its own channel on popular website, YouTube (www.youtube.com/rcitimeshare).
Other recent RCI innovations include:
• Enhanced online search functionality for RCI Weeks and member rentals, as well as Enhanced Search for RCI Points members.
• Two new RCI Apps for the iPhone, which had more than 13,000 downloads in their launch month. Each of the applications – an RCI TV App and the RCI Snapbook – encourage holidaymakers to share their experiences with friends using online social media.
Quality
As part of its policy to offer the highest quality and most memorable holiday experiences to its members, RCI introduced the RCI Resort Recognition Programme 20 years ago to identify and reward affiliated resorts offering high standards of product quality and service. Resorts that consistently exceed these high standards and provide exceptional holiday experiences, can earn three distinguished awards – RCI Gold Crown, RCI Silver Crown and RCI Hospitality awards.
The programme is based on feedback obtained via RCI member Comment Card scores and RCI resort inspections. For resorts to achieve an RCI Gold Crown award, they must also meet certain criteria, such as having a 24-hour reception.
