Police have ordered residents of the exclusive Roca Llisa development on the south of Ibiza to leave their homes after a forest fire threatened properties in the area. Roca Llisa is best known for its two golf courses – the only two on the south of the island.
The fire is still raging in a location near the popular resort of Santa Eulalia and residents had to evacuate in the middle of the night. 150 firemen were battling the flames yesterday and rescue helicopters have been bombing the fire with water.
The fire appears to be under control although emergency services are keeping a close eye on things.
Santa Eulalia, Ibiza’s third largest resort is only 21 kms from the airport and is a great destination for families and those seeking a quieter holiday. It’s home to a yacht harbour, with lots of pavement cafes for people-watching and is a gourmet favourite as it has many of the island’s best restaurants.
