Trans-Atlantic passengers in for a treat on William and Kate’s big day
While many of us – over two billion viewers around the world – will be glued to our TV sets, passengers on flights from the UK to US or Caribbean will be able to join in the celebrations thanks to some novel royal party planning by Virgin Atlantic.
This Friday April 29th, passengers will be treated to a commemorative afternoon tea of wedding cake and traditional English breakfast tea presented in a souvenir union jack lunch box. Aisles will be decked out in bunting, seats will be decorated with union jack headrests and special keepsake Kate and William themed love hearts and ice cream will be served during the flights, with wedding cake and wedding favours also available in the Upper Class bar.
No doubt Virgin Atlantic crew members will be keeping everyone in the party spirit during the sky high celebrations; each flight will have a royal wedding themed dressing up box for the crew, to add to the onboard merriment.
Simon Soni, Virgin Atlantic’s head of in-flight services, says: “We are really excited to be doing something special for our passengers and crew on this historic day. We are hoping that these extra special touches will make the flight really memorable.”

You can follow the royal wedding route ahead of William and Kate’s big day on the Royal Parks interactive website, which tracks the journey the royal couple will make on their way to Westminster Abbey for the 11am wedding service.
For those who want to celebrate in the open air, London’s most famous royal park, Hyde Park, will be broadcasting the wedding live and as it happens on three giant screens on the day (the site will open at 7am on Friday 29th).
