The face of the brand new £1.3 million visitor campaign “London, Now See It For Yourself” is…a Corgi.
The promotion, featuring Rufus the London loving Corgi, was created by the Mayor of London’s promotional organisation London & Partners and it might just be the capital’s cutest marketing push yet.
The idea behind the campaign is to keep London in the spotlight after a truly stellar year, and encourage those who watched the celebrations on TV to come to town and discover all the capital has to offer, for themselves
Rufus the Corgi – appropriately the Queen’s favourite breed – will be sniffing out London’s best spots including the famous landmarks the viewers saw on their screens during The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics.
Rufus’s mission is to help visitors explore the city via a cleverly-designed digital map on the new www.visitlondon.com website and he also stars in a new video. He will also be tweeting his travels with daily clues – as well as competitions with London-based prizes – about where his followers can sniff him out.
Artist Jenni Sparks created the fun map and she included many of London’s most iconic attractions along with a few lesser-known gems; there’s also a guide to what’s new in London in 2013.
The new YouTube video shows Rufus having a trim at the barber’s, visiting Savile Row, exploring Old Spitalfields Market, Bond Street and the Royal Albert Hall, and he even manages to squeeze in tea at a smart London Hotel before taking a night cruise along the River Thames, and visiting the London Eye and Olympic Stadium.

The name of the track used on the video could be more appropriate, either – the song is “London Town” by Dan Skinner, Adam Skinner and Dave James.
Gordon Innes CEO, London & Partners said: "We hope to see visitors enticed to the capital to enjoy some of the new attractions such as the Emirates Airline and Up at The O2, the new hotels such as Café Royal and Sol Melia’s ME London and see for themselves some of the iconic locations they saw over this summer during the Games and Diamond Jubilee. We have enjoyed working with a new character for the capital – Rufus the Corgi lets potential visitors see London from a completely new angle."
