One of the Algarve’s most prestigious golf resorts, Quinta do Lago, has announced that the founder of its Academy has been named as captain of the 2014 Ryder Cup European Team.
Paul McGinley, who was the vice-captain during the 2012 tournament, founded the Golf Academy at the exclusive Quinta do Lago resort in the Algarve.
The Algarve is also home to some of Portugal’s most luxurious timeshare destinations. There is a Club La Costa resort in the area (Lagunamar Suites) and the leading Portuguese hotel and vacation club group Pestana manages a number of hotels in and around southern Portugal.
The Pestana Group runs some of the best beachfront properties in the Algarve – ten hotels in all – at locations which include Alvor, Vilamoura, Portimao and Carvoeiro.
The popular golfing destination has also revealed that it will host a series of McGinley Academy clinics throughout the year. McGinely will visit the resort for four days, providing visitors with an exclusive opportunity to learn with one of Europe’s best golfers.
The Academy also holds an annual Paul McGinley Junior Cup, which falls this year in August.
Players of up to 17 years old can take part in a friendly competition whilst gaining invaluable advice from the professional Academy team.
The Paul McGinley Golf Academy at Quinta do Lago, the first of its kind in the world, launched in October 2011.
