Pestana Berlin Tiergarten overlooks the city’s largest park
With its breezy, sea-blue design palette in the bedrooms, panoramic views of Tiergarten Park (Berlin’s biggest green space) and an outdoor terrace that serves tapas, guests will notice more than a nod to Pestana’s Portuguese roots at the Pestana Berlin Tiergarten.
The restaurant’s Mediterranean menu includes Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and Greek specialities, as well as northern European dishes, while on the design front, the hotel follows Pestana’s trademark fresh boutique chic design ethic.
The Berlin property features spacious rooms, stylish wooden floorboards, modern bathrooms and 37” flatscreen TVs – some with terraces and views over Tiergarten Park. Guests have access to free Wi-Fi, an indoor heated pool and spa and fitness gym, and indoor/outdoor dining.
Plans to open the new Berlin property were announced in 2009 and, virtually on schedule and after significant investment, the four star design hotel opened its doors on May 16th.
Guests keen to get a glimpse of the city’s main landmarks won’t have far to walk – the city’s famous no. 200 sightseeing bus stops right in front of the hotel which is situated just minutes from the city’s popular Potsdamer Platz, the iconic Brandenburg Gate and a host of other Berlin-esque attractions. Berlin’s famous zoo is a 15 minute walk away, as are the KaDeWe department store and the shops along Kurfurstendamm.
Pestana added to its European portfolio last year when it launched the Pestana Chelsea Bridge & Spa in London, and the Tiergarten is the latest property to open.
Designed for business and pleasure, the hotel has 142 rooms, 5 luxury suites and a ballroom as well as three conference/function rooms and an executive boardroom.
Dionisio Pestana, Chairman of the group, said: “Berlin is the second largest city in the European Union and is considered one of its most influential, economic, political, scientific and cultural centres. The German capital is undoubtedly the city to watch.”
Pestana Vacation Club
Pestana’s entrée into the vacation ownership market dates back to 1985 when it began with the Madeira Beach Club which is part of the 5-star Pestana Madeira Carlton Hotel. Approximately 1,000 couples join the Pestana family year on year, buying holiday weeks. Its owner base has grown to over 25,000 families from 24 nationalities and the group now owns six vacation ownership properties in the Algarve and six in Madeira. Pestana is also a big brand name in Brazil.
Last year it introduced Options by Pestana Vacation Club to coincide with its 25th anniversary in the hotel and leisure industry. Designed to offer members even more flexibility, choice and value for money, Options allows owners to book the type of accommodation that best suits them and their families, and to stay where they want, when they want.
