Leading hotel firm Meliá Hotels International has announced it will open its first hotel in Leipzig.
The Spanish company will unveil the new Innside by Meliá hotel in the German city in late 2015.
In association with real estate developer KSW GmbH, Meliá plans to convert the historic Kosmoshaus into a 4-star superior hotel.
Located close to the city centre and next to the hip quarter of Gottschedstrasse, the hotel will boast 153 rooms and suites, as well as a fine-dining restaurant.
In addition, the roof of the old building is set to be converted into a modern skybar, offering absolutely spectacular views of the city and St. Thomas Church.
There will also be a total of four meeting rooms spread across a 380 square-metre conference area, a spacious wellness area and an underground car park.
By the time Meliá International launches its first hotel in Leipzig, it will be its 29th hotel in Germany, and the 16th hotel managed under the Innside brand.
The Spanish hotel group is pursuing ambitious growth plans for its Innside brand, with 10 hotels already open and 11 more in the pipeline.
The latest additions include two new hotels that opened in Madrid in January 2013.
Meliá is one of the best known hotel groups in the world, and the brand also runs a very successful vacation club programme at select resorts within its international property portfolio. To view the resorts please see the Club Meliá website at http://clubmelia.com
