British Airways has unveiled a new London Gatwick to Larnaca, Cyprus route, good news for timeshare owners heading to their resorts on the sun-drenched island for a late summer break.
The new service from London Gatwick to Larnaca in Cyprus will run in addition to the already popular British Airways route from Heathrow airport.
Operating three times per week, the flights will offer more choice for passengers holidaying in Cyprus, joining an existing route from Gatwick to Paphos on the west coast of Cyprus.
BA celebrated the new launch in style with Britain’s Got Talent duo Stavros Flatley, who originally hail from the island.
Demi Demetriou, one half of the father-son team, said: “We were dancing for joy when we heard that British Airways would be starting the flights.
“We go back to Cyprus for holidays and to visit friends and family every year so it’s great to have more flights to choose from.”
Located on the south coast of Cyprus, Larnaca is the third biggest city in Cyprus, while Cyprus itself is the third largest and third most populated island in the Mediterranean.
Larnaca has a special draw for culture lovers as it is home to a number of archaeological discoveries and historical sites, including over 3,000 tombs dating back to the 13th century BC.
Thousands of tourists visit the city every year, attracted by warm temperatures, sandy beaches, a range of traditional and international cuisines and cultural events and festivals.
