New London to French Alps Route Opens in time for Ski Season

British Airways route starts December 18th and will fly four times a week

British Airways will soon be flying four times weekly from London City Airport to Chambery, the gateway to the French Alps, starting December 18th.

The route will operate until the end of March 2011 using BA’s new Embraer 190 aircraft. Flights will go out Monday, Friday and both weekend days, with return flights from Chambery to London taking off from France on Mondays, Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Luke Hayhoe, BA’s CityFlyer commercial manager said: “Our schedule is ideally set up to give our customers the opportunity to spend a long weekend, a full week, or even longer, skiing on some of the world’s best slopes and resorts.

"Only a few short hours after taking off from London’s Docklands, our customers can be in a winter wonderland of 120 ski resorts, all set amidst the majesty and splendour of the French and Swiss Alps."

Chambery is renowned for its excellent skiing – famous Val d’Isere, Tignes val Claret and Les Trois Vallee (the Three Valleys) are all within reach and the resorts cater for all skiers and snowboarders whatever their level.
