Italian celebrity chefs Massimo Bottura and Carlo Cracco will be treating guests on Costa Cruises’ new ship Costa Favolosa to a gala dinner on 2 July.
Preparations are in full swing for the naming of the Costa Favolosa in Italy’s northeastern seaport Trieste on Saturday 2nd, and the chefs will be celebrating with an Italian-inspired spread representing Italy’s most famous culinary specialities and food regions.
Both chefs run their own two-Michelin-starred restaurants: Massimo Bottura’s Osteria Francescana is the “chef’s choice” in the San Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants ranking, while Carlo Craccio’s restaurant Cracco, in Milan, has been awarded three forks in the Gambero Rosso culinary guide.
To mark the naming ceremony, 2,000 guests will be treated to a lavish dinner onboard. Bottura will be creating dishes reminiscent of his childhood in Modena, such as Anolini with on a creamy Parmesan Reggiano cheese bed and Cod in a Black Crust with Creamed Potatoes, Umbrian Truffles and Piemonte Hazlenuts.
On the night, Carlo Cracco’s team will be tempting guests with Veal Medallion a traditional Tuna Sauce, Caprese Salad (a cherry tomato mousse with mozzarella and basil seeds) and Rock salt Marinated Egg Yolk with Green Asparagus Cream and Tips.
To finish, guests will be treated to that classic Italian dessert, Cassata Siciliana, made with ricotta cheese, pistachios and red cherries in an Italian meringue.
Costa Favolosa is the latest ship to make her debut as part of the Costa Cruises fleet. She has 1,508 cabins, 103 with direct access to the spa, 594 with private balconies, and 12 suites with direct access to the spa.
There are five restaurants on board including Club Favolosa and Samsara Restaurant, named after the luxurious on-board Samsara Spa (totalling 6,000 m2 on two levels, complete with gym, thalassotherapy pool, treatment rooms, a sauna, Turkish bath and solarium.)
Guests will find thirteen bars to choose from, including a Cognac & Cigar Bar and a Coffee & Chocolate Bar, while sports facilities include four swimming pools, a Pool Deck (with retractable glass roof and giant screen), a multi-purpose sports court, 4-D cinema, theatre, casino and nightclub, Grand Prix Simulator, Golf Simulator and Play Station World Area.
