Save the date! Monday 11 June will be a highlight on the shared ownership calendar next year, when teams tee off for the 2012 Christel House Golf charity tournament for the tenth year running.
Next year, a new venue will host the Christel House Charity Golf tournament which, in association with RCI, has been fundraising for international charity Christel House with its near legendary golf events and the 2012 event should be a landmark year.
The European leg of the global golf tournament will have a very British flavour to it as Badgemore Park Golf Club in Henley-on-Thames will be “putting” everyone in a golf-and-giving mood for the day out and awards dinner afterwards.
Robin Mills, Chairman of the Organising Committee is heading up the preparations and recently told Perspective magazine that it promises to be a very special event next year.
“There’s a social dinner this year, not just for golfers, and we’ll be celebrating 10 years of the Christel House Golf Tournament with a special industry dinner,” he said. “Sponsorship so far has been phenomenal and we have people sponsoring individual holes alongside our important major sponsors.”
Christel DeHaan, founder of Christel House added: “Congratulations to all who are helping get the 2012 Christel House Golf Tournament off to such a flying start.”
Last year’s European leg raised, won by Club La Costa, raised over £15,000 for the charity (all funds go directly to Christel House).
Founded in 1998 by founder Christel DeHaan, Christel House helps children worldwide break the cycle of poverty. Today, the organisation serves more than 3,000 students, helping them become productive and self sufficient through education, and the charity’s efforts help children in India, South Africa, Central and South America, the US and Serbia. The charity provides strong support on an ongoing basis to students so that they receive consistent psychological and educational support, medical care, life guidance and transport costs, all of which help make the ongoing programme a success.
Vivienne Noyes-Thomas, European Development Coordinator for Christel House said: “A very energetic working group of volunteers, including senior management from Europe, Nexus Leisure, Perspective International and Christel House Europe, are already busy preparing the groundwork for the 2012 event under the chairmanship of Robin Mills.”
Golfers and non-golfers are equally welcome, she added: “This year we are making the dinner an open event for the industry, a chance for folks to get together for a great get-together in aid of a wonderful cause. We’re aiming for a record turn-out for this 10th Anniversary and we warmly invite people to join us for a convivial evening, even if they don’t play golf or are not able to make it during the day.”
