Spanish chain Meliá Hotels International has revealed that it is to open a new hotel in the fast-growing city of Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
The Innside Yogyakarta will become the first hotel in Asia for the successful Innside by Meliá brand, which currently operates in Germany and Spain.
The new hotel will also become the largest of all the Innside by Meliá hotels, and is expected to open its doors in 2015.
Yogyakarta is becoming increasingly popular with travelers, with tourism soaring by 9 per cent in the area in 2012. The global average is just four per cent.
Meliá has doubled its hotel portfolio in Asia in the past two years alone and is focusing much of its international growth strategy on the continent.
Gabriel Escarrer Jaume, vice chairman and Group CEO for Meliá, said: “The family nature of our company gives us a long-term vision and a focus on corporate responsibility and consistency, attributes that are as highly prized in Asia.
“That is why we have been successfully operating for over 30 years on the continent, and also why I am convinced that our future will be closely linked to the hotel industry in one of the most dynamic regions in the world.”
The Innside hotels are designed to suit both lifestyle and business customers and boast cutting-edge design and personalised, simple and efficient service.
The Innside Yogyakarta hotel will feature flexible meeting and event space with state-of-the-art technology, a restaurant and a lobby bar.
