Holidaymakers want more than “just” a holiday, Spafinder reveals

With soaring work hours, manic social lives and grueling gym routines all part of our everyday lives, we are becoming busier than ever before.

Yet our bulging diaries are coming at a price – the Office for National Statistics revealed that 15.2 million days of work were lost in 2013 due to stress, depression or anxiety.

Worryingly, taking a break doesn’t always help either. The Spafinder Wellness 365’s ‘2014 Trends Forecast’ showed that 85% of people were returning off holiday feeling more stressed than before they left.

Perhaps this is why more and more people are opting for a wellness holiday that puts relaxation at its core. The Spafinder report also revealed that people were now demanding greater ‘wellness’ from their breaks.

In the report, 82% of travellers revealed that they wanted a holiday where they could unwind and enjoy spa therapies or have a massage. Meanwhile, 73% said they’d prefer an eco-property, while 82% looked for nature experiences.

These days, timeshare and fractional property owners don’t have pay to jet off to a spa – with the spa trend taking off big time in the UK,  timeshare resorts in some of Britain’s best beauty spots offer all the relaxing trimmings that come with the perfect spa break. Top resorts such as Hustyns  (Club La Costa) in Cornwall, for example, even offer luxurious facilities such as a stunning indoor pool.
