Greece tops Mediterranean destinations survey

With its clear, bluest of blue waters, abundant Blue Flag beaches and lost-in-time villages, it’s no surprise to Greek island fans that Greece has taken the top spot on a list of the most popular Mediterranean destinations in a new holiday survey.

While there are more timeshare resorts in Spain than in any other European destination, Greece has long attracted a loyal following of repeat visitors.

Timeshare owners also have the option of exchanging into various resorts throughout the Greek isles via leading global exchange specialists Interval International or RCI. (To view the resorts please visit www.Intervalworld.com or www.RCI.com).

The survey was carried out by hotel comparison website trivago.co.uk which ranked the mystical Greek island Santorini’s Imerovigli and Fira as the two best Mediterranean beach destinations overall.

The glamorous island escape of Capri in Italy took third place, while the Crete resorts of Chania and Rethymnon were voted into the number four and five spots.

The Trivago survey was based on the reputation of destination resorts’ hotels and was calculated from over 34 million user ratings and reviews compiled from over 160 booking sites.

Five Spanish destinations – including popular resorts in Ibiza, Majorca and Marbella – also featured in the top 20, the highest ranked being Llanes in Spain which came in in eighth place.
