The British Airline Pilots Association (BALPA) confirmed this morning that Virgin Atlantic pilots will NOT strike over the summer holidays.
It declined to give details of the new offer in advance of informing its members.
But Balpa general secretary Jim McAuslan said: ““We have lifted the threat of strike action. Virgin Atlantic pilots will continue flying passengers to their destinations.”
Sir Richard Branson wrote an open letter to the pilots warning them that any industrial action would harm the brand and disrupt holidaymakers’ plans and it appears that a new deal has been struck to which both sides are happy with.
BALPA members originally voted to strike by a 97% majority.
BALPA represents approximately 640 of Virgin Atlantic’s 750 pilots.
