Monarch, Tui, Thomas Cook, Avro and Jet2 route news
This summer it’ll be even easier to get away to Greek and Turkish shores with a number of airlines expanding their UK to Eastern Med route maps to meet demand.
New flights and routes include:
Monarch adds new flights to Corfu and Bodrum, starting May, and the airline has already expanded its number of services to European destinations this year. It will be adding more flights to its upcoming summer schedule, servicing both the popular Greek island and the well known Turkish beach resort just in time for the peak summer season.
The airline is also increasing current routes to Cyprus and the always-in-demand Canary Islands. Three weekly flights from Manchester, Birmingham and London Gatwick to Bodrum in Turkey will operate from early summer onwards, and passengers from Luton will be able to jet off to the lush green island of Corfu three times a week.
Monarch Airlines’ managing director, Kevin George, explained "It’s great that we have been able to respond to demand by boosting our Eastern Med programme with the introduction of new flights to Corfu and Bodrum, as well as strengthen schedules on a number of our core sunshine routes."
Still talking Turkey, Tui Travel is adding two routes for summer 2011, one from Exeter to Antalya and one to Izmir from Birmingham. Tui will be flying 45 regular routes over the summer from 16 airports into four airports servicing popular Turkish resorts – Antalya, Bodrum, izmir and Dalaman.
Turkey is on Tui’s flight menu this Easter, too, with flights into Dalaman commencing April 7 from nine UK airports; on November 2 the airline will start a year-round Gatwick and Manchester to Antalya service. April 5 marks the start of new routes into Antalya from Bristol and Glasgow.
Thomas Cook Airlines
Meanwhile, Thomas Cook Airlines is introducing new flight options for 2011 which include a Bournemouth to Antalya and Dalaman service, plus Doncaster to Antalya, with additional Bristol to Izmir direct flights also available. The airline now flies from 19 UK bases into four Turkish gateways.
Since last summer, Avro has almost doubled its UK-Turkey schedules, introducing flights from Luton, Birmingham, East Midlands, Newcastle and Glasgow to various Turkish airports and Jet2.com has upped its summer capacity by a whopping 60%, introducing Bodrum as a new destination from Manchester (twice weekly), Leeds and East Midlands (both once a week).
… is making it easier to get to the Eastern Med from Glasgow – flights to Dalaman will be departing twice a week from the carrier’s new Glasgow base this summer.
