Royal honour for Club La Costa resort manager

Nick Waddington, resort manager at Trenython Manor in Cornwall, one of Club La Costa’s 3 UK resorts, had the privilege of meeting the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall on their recent visit to the county.

The Royal couple were visiting the famous Eden Project which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and having taken part in the eco-attraction’s Green Foundation Course, along with other Trenython staff, Mr Waddington was the only ‘outsider’ to receive a special invitation.

Grants given by the Foundation have helped the resort purchase a composter machine, which does not use any energy apart from the heat that it self-generates. Mr Waddington explained this and other eco-friendly measures taken at Trenython to Prince Charles, who is well known for his interest in environmental matters.

“I explained how the composter is turning raw and cooked food into compost for use on site, and about the big savings we have achieved in electricity consumption, just by following some simple practices,” he said.

Mr Waddington said that he was honoured by the invitation and opportunity to speak to the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, adding: “Club La Costa guests have been very ‘green conscious’ and that has helped tremendously. I doubt we could have saved ₤50,000 on our electricity consumption compared to two years ago, without their co-operation.”
