Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, and Turkish investment and development specialists, Dilek Gayrimenkul Yatırım ve Turizm A.S., have agreed plans for a new luxury beachfront resort on Turkey’s stunning Cesme peninsula, due to open in 2016.
The development will be Four Seasons’ third property in Turkey, adding to its two luxury hotels in Istanbul.
The resort will be situated near the picturesque small town of Alcati, some 45 miles west of Izmir. Alcati is known for its charming old stone buildings and narrow cobbled streets lined with cafes, restaurants and boutiques while the wider region is rich in history, archaeology and thermal springs.
The ancient city of Ephesus (about 1½ hours’ drive away) is a "must-see" – home to the Temple of Artemis (one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World), the library of Celsus and the largest known outdoor theatre of the ancient world. The region also attracts watersports enthusiasts and is regarded as one of the world’s top wind and kite surfing destinations.
The plans for the Resort include 130 spacious suites and 16 private hilltop villas offering spectacular sea views, extensive sport and fitness facilities and a spa complex with thermal pools and hammam (traditional Turkish bath). The arrival lobby will reflect the design of a traditional agora which was the central gathering place of an ancient Aegean city-state, comprising restaurants, lounges, entertainment and retail areas. There will also be meeting and event facilities to accommodate business travellers.
Kathleen Turner, President and CEO of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, has described Four Seasons Resort Cesme as one which will unite "the natural beauty of the site and heritage of the region with the exceptional service that characterizes all Four Seasons properties".
The Cesme Peninsula has evolved over recent years into one of Turkey’s most prominent tourism centres, with a vibrant offering of hotels, marinas, clubs, restaurants and leisure attractions.
Four Seasons’ international portfolio also includes its very successful private residence club, including fractional properties and the group also offers a select number of wholly-owned properties for purchase.
