Timeshare favourites make the new destinations for 2014 Top 10 List

A recent survey by a holiday lettings company reveals that seven of the world’s top ten rental spots are in the Europe – and it’s probably no coincidence that all of the hotspots predicted for 2014 are top timeshare destinations, too.

The survey by Alpha Holiday Letting has published its list of “Top 10 Holiday Rentals Hot Spots” for next year, based on trends, visitors and bookings received on their website in the last year.

The list was topped by luxurious warm weather favourite Dubai, although Cyprus and the Costa del Sol made it into the top three. Meanwhile, Europe’s Paris – recently named as the best city to visit for 2014 and a growing fractional property favourite – and the Algarve completed the top five, with Cornwall coming in seventh.

Tom Lei, from Alpha Holiday Lettings, said: “With the already far-reaching and expanding network of Dubai’s Emirates airline, travelling to the city is becoming cheaper and more accessible.”

Cornwall is a huge destination for British timeshare owners, often with larger families who opt to stay “home” in summer and enjoy the region’s beautiful beaches instead of dealing with airport crowds and long security lines.

Other contenders to make it into the top ten included long-haul destinations Florida and Sydney, always popular with those looking for sunshine, beaches and children’s attractions for family holidays.

Two other winter sun destinations, the Algarve and Tenerife, in at numbers five and six respectively, are no surprise. The Algarve’s golf offering continues to grow, making it an obvious winter sun choice, and for guaranteed sunshine and balmy year-round temperatures, Tenerife and its sisters islands in the Canaries will always be hard to beat.

The destinations predicted to be most popular for second home owners next year are:

1. Dubai

2. Cyprus

3. Costa del Sol

4. Paris

5. Algarve

6. Tenerife

7. Cornwall

8. Florida

9. Sydney

10. Majorca
