French Strike Action

Passengers heading to and from France early this week face disruption following Eurocontrol’s announcement that French air traffic controllers will stage a walkout until Wednesday morning.

One third of flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport are expected to be cancelled, with half of flights from Orly and Beauvais affected.

Air France says most long-haul flights will be OK but some national or European flights may be cancelled. EasyJet said French flights could be affected from this evening until Wednesday morning.

The strike hits rail and public transport, too, and teachers, energy companies and public service workers are all joining the protest against the French government’s pension reform plans.

The strike by French Public Services will end of 6am on Wednesday 24 october. French union CGT is also encouraging Air France employees to stage a 24-hour strike on Friday, 26 October in protest of the company’s restructuring plans. says the strike could lead to delays to its flights to France and flights operating across French skies.
