From the Taj Mahal to the Great Wall of China, Britons have been revealing their travel bucket list – and the number one hotspot is closer to home than you may think.
Surprisingly, the iconic Eiffel Tower is top of our travel bucket list, with UK landmarks also scoring highly.
The French landmark topped a list of 30 sights around the world, which also included the Pyramids of Giza and the Sydney Opera House.
However, three out of the top five sights are in the UK – Big Ben, Stonehenge and Houses of Parliament. Meanwhile, two Scottish landmarks – Loch Ness and Edinburgh Castle – also feature in the list.
Colm Lacy of British Airways, which commissioned the study, said: “The research shows that Britain leads the way with three of the top five most iconic sights, proving that travel inspiration starts at home.
“Then the fun really begins when you start exploring new destinations on the list.”
The average adult has already seen 10 landmarks on the list, although one-fifth of participants have only visited two or fewer.
This is perhaps why seven out of 10 Britons worry that they haven’t seen enough of the world.
So there you have it! Plenty of Easter travel inspiration for your next timeshare break.
