Kyani Atki Beach
Based in Souda Bay, Chania, this scenic sandy spot is perfect for beach lovers. It stretches on for miles, so it’s easy to find a quiet spot to relax and unwind, and there’s also food and drink available, as well as sun beds and umbrellas.
If you head to the south coast of Chania, you’ll come across three beaches in this area, a couple of which you can expect plenty of hustle and bustle in. However, the Orthi Ammos beach is a ten-minute stroll from the castle and is one of the island’s most spectacular. Expect plenty of sweeping sand dunes, crystal clear waters and, best of all, almost zero crowds at times.
Based alongside a picturesque coastal village, Bali beach boasts a spectacular backdrop of rugged mountains. This laid-back beach is based outside of Rethymno, on the northern coast, and boasts small, sandy inlets scattered across the village.
Sitting in a pretty fishing village on the north coast of Crete is Panormos beach, which is perfect for adventurers. The beach is perfect for swimming, sunbathing or watersports and enjoys crystal clear waters. There are also plenty of secluded coves to explore, meaning you can enjoy a truly peaceful break.
The famously tranquil and unspoiled fishing village of Tsoutsouros is based in the south coast of Heraklion. This beach is beautifully sandy with clean, clear waters. However, there are very few facilities, and it can get busy during peak seasons.
The most peaceful of three brilliant beachs at Istron, this beach is just outside Aghios Nikolaos. This quiet, pebbly beach is close to the entrance of the village, which is fringed by olive groves.
On the far east of the Lassithi region lies the magical Minoan palace of Zakros. The magnificent beach here lies in a cove and is utterly beautiful with clear, deep blue waters. The beach is incredibly picturesque and is as close to its natural state as you’ll find.
