British Airway's summer-only schedule from London City Airport to Barcelona will now operate year-round, the airline has just announced - good news for fans of the Costa Brava and Costa Dorada. Now those looking for a quick city break in one of Europe's best-loved and most vibrant cities will be able to hop over from London City Airport to beautiful Barcelona from the end of March 2010 and flights will continue through summer and winter.

  • The Corn Exchange at Brighton's Dome is the venue for this year's 2010 Enjoy England Awards For Excellence. The finalists have just been revealed, and the event takes place on April 23, to mark St. George's Day. Competition in the various categories is exceptionally strong, and a large number of entries are in for the Sustainable Tourism Award.

  • Holiday Club Resorts (HCR) has announced that Holiday Club Naantali Residence in Naantali, Finland, has affiliated with RCI, the worldwide leader in vacation exchange.

    Opened in May this year, Holiday Club Naantali Residence has 40 high-quality studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments, all with sea views, and is located next to Naantali Spa, one of the Nordic countries’ leading holiday and conference centres. The complex attracts 300,000 visitors a year and has received many accolades from the hospitality industry, including being named twice in the world’s 100 best spas and five times as the meeting hotel of the year in Finland – most recently this year.

  • RDO (the Resort Development Organisation) can report that the police in Spain have arrested 22 people following an investigation - which RDO contributed towards - into alleged resale and notary/lawyer fraud in Malaga and Tenerife. The resale company, which has not been named by the police, reportedly took upfront payments from owners for the fictitious sale of their timeshare. Some timeshare owners were then contacted again by members of the same network, inviting them to use the services of a lawyer to recoup the money that they had lost.

    During the searches, which took place at 11 properties, officers found lists of owners and written instructions for telephone conversations to potential ‘victims’.

    People will still take holidays in the eurzone because it is so dominant, with Spain and Greece seeing huge amounts of British travellers, like timeshare users, every year, stated Sean Tipton, spokesperson for ABTA – the Travel Association.
