Figures reveal that Tenerife is the most popular island, Lanzarote is the next popular island, closely followed by Gran Canaria.

Astronaut: Moon Walk

Timeshare owners heading to Iceland this summer could follow in the footsteps of Neil Armstrong by taking part in the 11-hour Askja Lunar Tours.

This month is the 40th anniversary of Armstrong's moon walking efforts and the Iceland Tourist Board is inviting people to head to the area where the Apollo 11 team trained before setting foot on the lunar surface.

A total of three Marriott Vacation Club International resorts have received Florida Green Lodging Program designation from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

Marriott, which entered the timeshare industry in 1984, revealed that the designation was given to its Grande Vista and Cypress Harbour facilities, along with the Crystal Shores resort on Marco Island.

Timeshare resale broker Travel & Leisure Group has joined forces with Rightmove to expand the former's coverage for its clients, it has emerged. Jim Wilson, advertising and marketing manager for Travel & Leisure Group, explained that Rightmove was a natural choice as the company seeks to expand in 2009.

He said the company, which is a member of the Resort Development Organisation, has expanded beyond the conventional methods that other timeshare Resale companies.

Holiday Cottages thanks owners

Holiday Cottages Group has held a celebration for cottage owners who have been on the company portfolio for more than 20 years. Vice-president of property at the Earby-based company group Simon Law gave five owners certificates as well as congratulatory cottage-shaped cakes.

The owners were given the offerings in thanks for their loyalty to the holiday lettings company which is now in its 30th year of trading.

According to the Isle of Wight's tourism body, there is a predominantly flat cycle path that follows the disused railway from Cowes to Newport, while there are some hand-crafted picnic benches on the route from Newport to Sandown.
