Emirates Vacation Club

Interval International, a prominent worldwide provider of vacation services and an operating segment of Interval Leisure Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: IILG), has announced the affiliation of Emirates Vacation Club, a private residence club in the heart of Dubai, one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Emirates Vacation Club’s first phase consists of 32 luxury units located within the 48-story Emirates Grand Hotel. Already a landmark on the skyline of a city renowned for its innovative architecture, the hotel’s Suites Tower has a rotating glass entrance and intricate, hand-crafted wooden wall panels in its soaring lobby. The studio, one- and two-bedroom units feature fully equipped kitchen and dining areas, along with modern conveniences such as high-speed Internet connection, LCD TV, DVD player, and IDD telephone. Most have breathtaking views from their floor- to-ceiling windows.

Dubai will always be a luxury holiday destination, it has been said, but the city can cater to those on a budget as well.

The emirate's government is continuing to invest in the destination, in the according to Ian Scott, director at the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) in the UK and Ireland.

He pointed to Dubai Metro, which will be fully operating by March 2010, a new spa opening in January and a number of hotels that are set to open their doors soon.

DTCM figures show that 854,601 travellers from the UK and Ireland made their way over to Dubai in 2008, a rise of 14 per cent over the previous year.

Dubai International handled a total of 3,729,879 passengers in August 2009, compared to 3,368,260 during the same month in 2008.

Dubai Metro: Success

The Dubai Metro, which opened last week, has been hailed a success by the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA).

Some 42,782 passengers, including timeshare owners, used the public transport system on Monday (September 14th), with nearly 280,000 people stepping aboard the Red Line service since its launch last Thursday.
