Widespread travel disruption is expected Thursday, one of the busiest travel days of the festive season, as a general strike in Belgium looks set to go ahead.
The strike will affect national rail services, impacting Eurostar, who have cancelled trains to and from Brussels for 24 hours, however services from St. Pancras to Paris will not be affected.
There will be no London to Brussels Eurostar services between 10pm on Wednesday 21 December for 24 hours, ending 10pm on Thursday.
The strike also means that all other domestic and international connecting services to and from Brussels will be affected/cancelled.
Eurostar have confirmed that services to and from Brussels will terminate and commence at Lille Europe station. A limited replacement coach service will operate between Lille and Brussels Midi station to get train passengers to the Belgian capital.
Eurostar recommends that passengers booked to travel on a Eurostar service either to or from Brussels on the 22nd December (or on the 7:04 pm departure from London on 21 Dec) exchange their tickets to travel either before or after the 22nd December, wherever possible. Eurostar will allow exchanges free of charge regardless of ticket conditions but subject to availability on alternative services.
Customers wishing to re-book their travel should contact their original point of sale, or Eurostar on one of the following numbers:
UK 08432 186 186
Belgium 02 40 06 731
Customers who are unable to travel and wish to refund their tickets should contact their original point of sale, this can be done anytime in the next 2 months. Eurostar service to and from Paris during this period will not be affected. Eurostar is contacting directly affected passengers. Additional information will be posted to Eurostar.com as it becomes available and customers are advised to check for further updates.
