The Emerald Isle’s first ever seaplane service has taken to the skies on its maiden flight.
Harbour Flights will be based at Mountshannon, in Co Clare, just seven miles from East Clare Gold Holiday Village, an RCI affiliate and one of its most popular resorts in Ireland.
The company offers holidaymakers scenic tours of the stunning Lough Derg and surrounding areas, including King John’s Castle in Limerick, the Burren and the majestic Cliffs of Moher.
The firm, which has been five years in the making, will create up to 50 new jobs in Ireland.
While initially based in Clare, plans are in the pipeline to expand into Dublin, Galway, Limerick, Foynes, and Cork.
CEO and aviation enthusiast, Emelyn Heaps, said: “Our intention is to connect Ireland through its waterways, lakes, rivers, and estuaries by offering scenic flights that criss-cross the country.
“This is one of the most exciting Irish tourism innovations in many years. We want this service to make the citizens of Ireland proud.”
Harbour bosses hope that the seaplane will maximise visitor experiences and allow for quick and easy transfers between key destinations.
In its first year of operation, Harbour Flights will carry 10,000 passengers across Irish skies. For more information, visit www.harbourflights.com
