UK food tour dates begin Sunday 5th June in Regent Street
“A Taste of Spain” returns to London this week for the sixth year running, with tapas, jamon, sherry pouring and wine tasting all on the line up.
The first leg of the food tour launches in London’s Regent Street on Sunday 5th June (noon-7pm) when visitors will be able to savour the flavours of the regions of Spain.
There will be Basque Country and Aragon favourites from the north, to Andalusian specialities from the south, while the city of Segovia will entertain the crowds with live music from brass band Charanga Chicuelina and visitors will be able to win free Spanish lessons.
Valencia, home to the perfect paella, will be celebrating with supersized paellas on hand to serve up to 1,000 people, while Andalucia, home to the Costa del Sol, will be showcasing its tapas-style treats such as chilled gazpachos and Iberian hams, all washed down with local sherries and wines.
Ibiza will add to the festive atmosphere with its own DJ and chill-out zone, while Mallorca and Menorca will put on traditional street performances, as well as a fabulous equestrian show demonstrating the beauty, intelligence and precise art of six thoroughbred horses.
There will be music and dance on the main live stage, including appearances by Spanish artists, Mota, We are Standard and Miss Cafeina.
The Basque Country will keep the beats going with an amazing tamborrada featuring 68 drummers, giving visitors a chance to taste some traditional Basque tapas while they take in the music.
Of course there will be a dedicated Sports Zone and Hall of Spain, to mark Spain’s recent and historic sporting achievements – fans will be able to experience the unique F1 similator featuring the F1 track in Valencia and a MotoGP will transport visitors to the popular “Circuito de Motorland.”
Kids are being catered for, too, with special activities, fun giveaways and lots of chances to win prizes. Some of Regent Street’s shops will be getting into the Spanish spirit of things, too, with one-day discounts and Spanish-themed promotions.
After the London fiesta, “A Taste of Spain” moves north to Leeds (2nd and 3rd July) then up to Edinburgh on the 16th and 17th July, bringing a splash of Spanish sunshine to Scotland.
