New flight routes for summer 2016

Jetting away for a timeshare holiday soon? A lot of new routes have just launched, so  if you haven’t booked your ticket yet, check these updates for cheap fares and brand new routes for summer 2016.  Here are some of the new destinations you’ll be able to fly direct to this summer…

Jet2.com’s Edinburgh base is expanding – the ticket desk at the airport recently underwent a makeover and expansion, doubling in size in anticipation of the extra flights due to take off from the city this year.  Edinburgh will add 12 new destinations, including some of the world’s most popular timeshare hotspots Antalya in Turkey, Lanzarote and Crete and with a new B737-800 plane based at the capital airport, 500,000 new seats will be available for summer 2016.

Monarch, meanwhile, has announced three new routes from Manchester to Lisbon, Tel Aviv and Madeira.

EasyJet is starting a new service from Manchester to Gibraltar on 3 July and to Tivat on 27 March, while long haul fans will be happy to hear Thomas Cook Airlines has launched direct flights from Manchester to sunny Tobago.

Again from Manchester, Ryanair is putting on six new routes this summer, jetting off to Bremen, Bratislava, Brindisi, Carcassonne, Limoges and Malta, while Vueling will be heading to Alicante and Rome from June 2016 (from Manchester).

Ibiza lovers will get a six times a week choice of flights from Manchester to Ibiza, and if a city break sounds just like the tonic you need this spring, easyJet is now flying from Manchester to Vienna on Sundays and Thursdays.

On the long haul front, Delta has started flights from Manchester to JFK New York, while Thomas Cook will start routes from Manchester to Boston and LA.

Stansted Airport in Essex is welcoming a lot of new routes, too, this spring and summer, kicking off with a new Ryanair service to Sofia (from 25 April), Thomson to Cancun and Orlando from 3 May, and local residents will also be able to escape to Vienna for the weekend with Eurowings’ recently launched new route.

Thomas Cook is now flying direct long haul from Stansted to Las Vegas, Cancun, Orlando, Corfu, Fuerteventura, Izmir, Heraklion, Kefalonia, Kos, Rhodes, Skiathos, and last but not least Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) now flies from Stansted to Gothenburg.

At Gatwick, Ryanair is now flying from that hub to Belfast (from late March), while Monarch is kicking off some exciting routes for spring and summer 2016, starting with Gibraltar on 1 May, four times weekly, Almeria on 3 May, three times a week and popular Portuguese capital Lisbon from 3 May, also three times a week.  Las Palmas gets a new flight, once a week, from 5 May.

From Birmingham, Monarch will be servicing Madrid 3 x week and Lisbon 4 x week, beginning mid-end of June.

At Hearthrow, new routes include Chania in Crete (from 30 April to 24 September, twice a week from Terminal 3), Kalamata in Greece (same dates, twice a week), Biarritz from 1 May, twice a week and Menorca four times weekly from Terminal 5, starting 29 April.
