It is often described as having an eternal spring-like climate which on the one hand makes it an excellent beach holiday destination, but also makes it perfect for a whole host of outdoor activities. You can easily spend a week chilling out, but we have a selection of other amazing activities for you to try on your visit that you can combine with topping up your tan.

An action packed trip to Forestal Park Tenerife

Despite the heat and lack of rainfall for most of the year, you might be surprised to learn that in parts of the island there are huge forests with incredible pine forests. These are located mainly in higher altitudes on the outskirts of Teide National Park and in the north of the island, where the climate is more changeable than the south. Located in the north in the protected area of Las Lagunetas on the edge of Teide National Park you will find Forestal Park Tenerife.

Here is the perfect activity centre for people of almost all ages. Families with younger children will love this place as it provides hours of entertainment, and there are also more challenging sections for those looking for an adrenaline rush. There are incredible tree-top walks, giant zip lines and rope swings into huge nets. You will feel like Tarzan in no time as you climb and swing through the giant Canary pine trees in this beautiful area full of biodiversity!

A fun-filled day out at Siam Park

Tenerife has quite a few claims to fame, one of which it gained once again this year which is perfect for those looking for a fun-filled experience while on the island. Siam Park has once again been ranked the best waterpark in the whole world for the 4th year running in the recent TripAdvisor 2017 Travelers’ Choice awards! This is quite a claim to fame considering there is such stiff competition from other much richer destinations such as the USA and Dubai.

This giant Thai-themed water park opened its doors back in 2008 and since then has continued to amaze tourists from all over the world with the incredible setting and multitude of stunning slides and other features. All the rides, restaurants and buildings have a Thai theme, with the largest collection of Thai themed buildings in the world outside of Thailand. Even more impressive of course are the rides which range from the meandering Mai Thai River, the largest lazy river in the world, to slides such as Volcano, The Dragon, The Giant and Jungle Snakes. There is even a vertical slide called the Tower of Power with see-through slides that at the end passes through a giant shark filled tank!

An exhilarating helicopter flight above the island

Tenerife is an incredible island with amazing sights such as a stunning coastline with a bright blue sky, surrounded by the beautiful Atlantic ocean with other Canary Islands visible in the distance, a rugged volcanic landscape, giant forests and of course in the centre Teide National Park with the piece de resistance, Mount Teide standing resplendent in the centre at over 3,700 metres high! Of course the typical way to experience these sights are from ground-level which is undoubtedly impressive, but to really get a feel for how incredible the island really is, we highly recommend taking a helicopter flight.

An excellent option is a flight with Helidream Helicopters a company based in the south of the island who offer a variety of different stunning flights over the island, including a south coast tour and flight over Teide National Park to take in the true beauty of this phenomenal natural feature. You may feel the slight twinge of nerves before take-off but once you are up in the air the adrenaline will take over and you can enjoy sights of the island that only birds can normally see. What’s more you can get some fantastic photos to make your friends and family back home jealous, not that you would ever do that of course 😉

A luxurious whale and dolphin watching sailing trip

Nothing beats being out on the ocean waves, especially on a luxurious sailing trip aboard a yacht, gazing at the amazing coastline of Tenerife. On top of that though, the waters surrounding the Canary Islands are some of the best in the world to see dolphins and many different types of whale, especially pilot whales. An excellent company to sail with is Blue Jack Sail who you can take a variety of different trips with either on a sailing boat or motor yacht. You can either head out on one of their vessels with a small group or even book a private chartered experience for that extra taste of luxury, including an incredible sunset sailing trip.

During the excursion you are almost guaranteed to see dolphins who are move with an unbelievable speed, agility and grace through the water. Often pods of dolphin will swim alongside the boat, jumping in and out of the ocean as they enjoy racing the boat. This is the kind of thing you can only experience in certain parts of the world and Tenerife is one of them. It is quite simply awe inspiring to see these graceful creatures in their natural habitat. These are the kind of memories that will last a lifetime. You will be provided with food and drink onboard and even be able to enjoy a swim in the ocean near a beach. This is the perfect day holiday experience!

This is just a small selection of the amazing things you can experience while you are visiting Tenerife on your next holiday. There are a number of excellent timeshare resorts that you can stay at while in Tenerife who will be happy to book these excursions and more for you.
