30 Years On, Tresco’s Timeshares Are Still Selling Well

The Scilly Isles are one of Britain’s wildest beauty spots and despite the downturn it seems that timeshares in Tresco are still selling well, thirty years since timeshare became available there. In fact, Wayne Shaw, Manager of Tresco’s new Sea Garden Cottages, says demand for high-quality timeshares is stronger than ever.

67 out of 95 holiday cottages located on Tresco Estate are now available as timeshare homes and prices start at £5,000 and go up to £125,000.
It’s the perfect spot if coastal walks, slowing down and savouring time to smell the flowers is your kind of holiday lifestyle. There are various properties to choose from, such as traditional granite cottages or eco-friendly luxury properties furnished with antiques and contemporary kitchens.

Mr Shaw adds that Tresco doesn’t market its timeshares in the traditional way and what often happens is that holidaymakers visiting the Scilly Isles for the first time love it so much they decide to buy a holiday property to come back to again and again.

Shaw says he is seeing a trend where multiple generations of families, who have been visiting the island for years, are purchasing extra timeshares at the same time of the year, so they can holiday as an extended family and meet up for reunions.

The owners like the fact that they know which property they’ll be staying in – no surprises – and that prices are fixed from the start of their shared ownership programme so they don’t rise with inflation.

For over fifty years, the hotel at the heart of the estate, the Island Hotel on Tresco has enjoyed a reputation for being one of the most scenically located hotels in Britain. Sea Garden Cottages at the Island Hotel are available to timeshare owners (there are nine in that particular portfolio), all of which are light and spacious with views across landscaped gardens down to the sea.

Owners can reserve a set week in their cottage of choice on the Tresco Estates for a period of thirty years but Tresco guarantees to buy it back from them at any time after four years and before 15 years for the full purchase price (with no deductions).

The website says it publishes full availability, prices, dates and rental values for its timeshare and doesn’t employ timeshare salesmen.

All new purchases of timeshare from Tresco Estate include membership of the exclusive Flying Boat Club with its club house in New Grimsby with views over the harbour. Facilities include an indoor pool with spa facilities, all weather tennis courts and owners’ initial membership fees are included in the timeshare price and Buy Back Guarantee.
